Privacy Policy

LearnPokemon does not ask you to create an account. This page explains what the site stores on your device, what the host may log, and how advertising cookies would work if Google AdSense is turned on.

LearnPokemon is an unofficial educational fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures, or The Pokémon Company. Pokémon and related names are trademarks of their owners.

Who publishes this site

LearnPokemon is a personal educational fan project about the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The publisher is the person reachable at [email protected] and on GitHub as akaCarpeDiem. There is no separate company account, no login, and no profile you can create. The public site is https://learnpokemon.fun/, with a Pages mirror at https://learnpokemon.pages.dev/.

This project is not affiliated with Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures, or The Pokémon Company. Mail sent to the address above does not reach those companies.

No account, and what is stored

You can read the timeline, set pages, Pokédex, and rankings without signing up. LearnPokemon does not run its own user database and does not ask for your name, email, or a password in order to browse.

The encyclopedia keeps one small cache in the browser so a set you already opened can redraw quickly:

Session storage keys beginning with learnpokemon-cards: hold the card list for a set you opened during this visit.
That cache is session storage, not a long-lived account record. Closing the browser session, or clearing site data, removes it.
Nothing in that cache is required for the timeline, Pokédex, or rankings to render. Those pages read files that ship with the site.

Search boxes filter the set and species lists that are already in memory. The text you type is not sent to a LearnPokemon server. This project does not keep a copy of your searches.

Hosting logs on Cloudflare

The site is static files served by Cloudflare Pages. LearnPokemon does not operate its own application server. When your browser requests a page, Cloudflare may record ordinary hosting logs for that request: the time, the URL, a status code, the user agent, and an IP address. Those logs belong to the host. They are used to deliver the files and to operate the network. This project does not copy those logs into its own database, because it does not have one.

Cloudflare’s own description of how it handles request data is in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. If bot protection is enabled on the zone, Cloudflare may also set an operational cookie. That is described on the Cookies page.

Services the pages call

Some pages ask other sites for images or records. Those providers see the usual technical data a browser sends when it requests a file, including an IP address. LearnPokemon does not add an analytics product of its own.

PokéAPI for species, stats, habitats, and official species artwork.
The Pokémon TCG API for live set and card records. A snapshot of that data also ships with the site.
TCGdex for Japanese set lists and Japanese card images.
Google Fonts, to load Fraunces and Outfit.

Advertising

LearnPokemon may show Google AdSense ads. The pages are prepared for that, but the ad script is not loaded while the publisher id is still the placeholder REPLACE_WITH_ADSENSE_CLIENT. No real ca-pub- id is published here, and this policy does not invent one. Until a real publisher id is configured, the site does not load adsbygoogle.js and does not ask Google to set advertising cookies.

If ads are enabled later, Google may use cookies and advertising identifiers to show and measure ads, including on other sites in its advertising network. Google may use a truncated IP address and general location to choose an ad, and may show a personalized or non-personalized ad depending on your Google settings and local law. A visitor in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom may see Google’s own consent message if a certified consent mode is turned on. That message is Google’s. It is not a LearnPokemon account.

Google describes these practices in its Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can review ad personalization at Google’s ad settings. The short version of the same limit is in the site footer: no ad script runs while the publisher id is still the placeholder.

Children

The encyclopedia is written for people learning the card sets. It does not ask for a child’s name, email, or school. Prices shown on cards, when a source provides them, are ungraded figures, not a shop and not a request for payment details.

How long data stays

The card cache lasts for the browser session-storage lifetime. Hosting logs stay with Cloudflare under Cloudflare’s retention for that product. Third parties listed above keep request data under their own policies. LearnPokemon does not maintain a separate archive of visitors.
