About LearnPokemon

LearnPokemon is an unofficial educational fan encyclopedia of Pokémon Trading Card Game sets and the species those cards name, from the earliest sets to the present day.

The name of this site is LearnPokemon. The header mark is a fan-made hardcover whose cover is a Poké Ball silhouette, with cream pages and a gold bookmark. It is not an official logo of Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures, or The Pokémon Company.

What you can read

The home timeline is the front door. Sets run in release order. The carousel shows seven packs at a time: three on each side of the highlighted center pack. Choosing a pack opens that set. Three collection modes share the same chrome:

All English at / lists English sets with English interface text. /en redirects here.
All Japanese at /ja lists Japanese sets with Japanese interface text.
Japanese Art with English Text at /en-ja lists the same Japanese sets with English interface text.

A set page is the card list for that printing. English set routes look like /sets/base1. Japanese set routes are namespaced, for example /ja/sets/... and /en-ja/sets/..., because some set ids exist in both languages. Japanese set pages do not show market prices.

Pokédex

The Pokédex is a species index. Each entry is a default-form species with official artwork, types, base stats, generation, and habitat when PokéAPI provides them. Opening a species stays on the species. It can point at card printings. It does not pretend to be a route map or a debut calendar. PokéAPI does not supply a calendar date for a species’ game debut, and this site does not invent one.

Top 100s

Top 100s is one hub with three lists: species power, printed rarity, and raw market value. Power adds hit points, printed attack damage, and a small bonus when a card has an ability. Rarity ranks the printed label stored by the card API. It is not a pull rate. Value is an ungraded TCGPlayer market figure when a source published one. LearnPokemon does not show a PSA 1–10 dollar chart and does not fill a missing price with a guess. The value list is baked ahead of time. The page names which source and time that file came from.

Asset credits

English sets, logos, symbols, card images, rarities, and raw tcgplayer.prices come from the Pokémon TCG API. A snapshot ships with the site so the gallery can open when the live API does not answer.
Japanese set lists and Japanese card images come from TCGdex.
Booster photographs come from ptcg-assets by 1niceroli. The site keeps one web-sized packshot per set when that library has a booster image, preferring a Charizard pack when one is present. Sets with no pack photo say so on the tile. They are not given a made-up pack.
Species names, stats, types, habitats, and official species artwork come from PokéAPI and the PokéAPI sprites repository.
Home backgrounds are scenic plates in a Pokémon card-art style: sky, water, and landscape only. The full card is not shown behind the packs. The scene changes with the collection in the center. The plate list is scenes.json in the site data. These scenes are not video-game wallpapers.

What this site does not invent

There are no invented pull rates, print runs, or graded dollar amounts. There is no scraped price chart presented as if this site had appraised the card. A missing cell stays empty. The only in-page prices are ungraded figures from the card API or from the baked Top 100 value file, and the card panel links out to third-party checkers for anything beyond that.

The interactive copy of these notes, including the rarity score table, is also available inside the app at /about when the app shell is what your browser loaded. This static page is the copy a crawler can read without running JavaScript.
